Great Weekend

We had a great weekend in Rochelle attending Baby Fitz's shower and seeing lots of people I don't get to see very often. Dave played golf while I was at the shower and then Saturday evening we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant,Rosita's in DeKalb. Wow took three tries to type DeKalb, reminded me of my early days at the phone company typing addresses on envelopes. Can't remember how long I had been working there before someone told me that the k was capitalized. DUH!

We also had a great day with Ali today. We went to pick up the dogs and take her out to lunch and ended up shopping the afternoon away. She was determined to find jeans for her dad that made him look like he has a butt. No easy task I might add. But we managed and BONUS they were on sale. It was a bang-up day.

When we got home I watched the video of Garth's memorial service. My heart is kind of heavy now but I am glad that today's technology allowed me to watch it. They tried to zoom in on the casket at the beginning but the honor guard was in the way and I'm glad because I want to remember my last conversation with Garth in the hallway a few days after the last sectional game. I will miss talking basketball with him.

More basketball

After last weekend it will be interesting to see who is left when the weekend is over. I'm rooting for Northern Iowa and hopefully they will be up to the task.

I have a lot of things to do tonight so I'd better get at. I would like to be able to sit down and watch Grey's tonight. Ta

Final Timeout

It was a sad day in Alexandria, IN today. Longtime basketball coach, teacher, friend, neighbor and all around great guy, Garth Cone died suddenly early today. My first year of working at the middle school in Alex I had lunch with Garth every day. He was kind of quiet at first but as we got to know each other he became a source of humor and entertainment. I will never forget him as I'm sure no one else who has ever had the pleasure of knowing him will either. Thanks for the memories Coach.

On a happier note, I have to go put a baby blanket together to take to a shower this weekend. We haven't been to Illinois since last July so we are excited to be making the trip.

As always, Dave is very much looking forward to eating at Rosita's in DeKalb. Ta

The Missing Caboose

Don't you think trains look unfinished and kind of naked without a caboose? Since I no longer live in Rochelle, IL(train capital of the world), I don't see that many trains; I did have to wait on one today and there was no caboose. There haven't been cabooses on trains for a long time but it just reminded me of how silly they look without them.
When I was a little kid I used to imagine all kinds of things going on in the caboose. You would actually see a guy sitting in the window sometimes and he would often wave back if you waved at him. I always thought they had bunk beds and a place to eat back there. I guess I thought those trains just kept rolling all the time.
My NCAA brackets are a mess!! That Northern Iowa win over Kansas last night was the coup de gras. It was so cool to see puny UNI as we called them growing up, beat the big school. AWESOME!!!! I'm sure all the cousins who still live in Northeast Iowa were excited too. Now that they screwed up many of the brackets in the country, I hope they make it to the Final Four.

OK I'm done now, guess what time it is kids? That's right, time to work on the blanket. Ta

Golf----I played today.

It was wonderful. I was able to play in a long sleeve t-shirt, no sweatshirt, no coat. I didn't keep score, was just for fun. Short chat tonight, Flash Forward is on. Ta

Lovely Spring Afternoon

Wow, what a great day today. I went to Kohl's after school and got a set of luggage for Eric to take to Florida. I was going to stop at Frazier's for a St. Paddy's Day treat but when I got there the lines were 8 deep at both windows so I passed. I shouldn't do that anyway. I wouldn't have eaten anything green anyway so what would be the point?

I wore these rockin four leaf clover glitter glasses to school today. They were a big hit. If I weren't so lazy I would get my USB cable and post it, but I am, so its not gonna happen tonight.

Seniors had a government test today. In the middle of it, we had a tornado drill. We were in the library so the kids had to get under the tables. We had some good chuckles about that.

I'm excited about the fund raiser we are going to Friday night in Cicero. Its for Scott Baldwin, who is running for sheriff of Hamilton County. We don't live in Hamilton County but his dad was my high school history teacher and his aunt is one of my best friends from high school.

Hey kids, guess what time it is? Time to work on the blanket! I'm such a slave driver. Snow in the forecast? Wish I hadn't heard that.

Great Start for the Week

Don't you just love it when you oversleep? It seems that yesterday when I reset my alarm clock to daylight savings time, I forgot to actually set the alarm. Imagine my surprise, panic, and overall iratability when Dave tapped my shoulder this morning and said, "Its 7:15 shouldn't you be up?" Of course my classic response was "Oh shit!". I just love my week starting like that. Amazingly, I was not late for work. Needless to say, I didn't have one of my best hair days ever. I ate my breakfast while driving to work. As far as I know I am not missing any essential articles of clothing. It was a good day. Ta

Daylight Savings Time

Is it just me or is it kind of early? It was just getting light out when I went to work and now it will be back to the dark for another what? 3 weeks, 4 weeks? It seems kind of early in the spring for it to be warm enough to stay outside until 8 at night. I think we could have waited another couple of weeks at least.

Did a little shopping today. Mostly made some returns but also looked briefly for shoes that I could wear for the wedding.

Also watched the bracket program. I know Purdue has a right to be there but what a waste of a slot. They are going to be embarrassed by a number 13.

I'm watching Til Death with Brad Garrett, pretty funny. Better get busy. Ta

Rainy Days

Raining out today, makes me very lazy. Let's face it, I'm lazy most of the time.

Right now I'm watching UK and Tenn battle it out in Nashville. UK is starting to pull away with 7 left in the first half after Tenn hanging right with them for most of the first half. Since Dave is a HUGE UK fan I am not telling him that I secretly pull for Tenn since they are the underdog.

My massage last night was wonderful as usual. I lost 2.8 pounds when I got on Big Ben this morning. Life is good for the moment.

Time for me to work on the blanket again. Ta

Not Negative Nancy

I mentioned in a class today that I had my own blog and a student said that people only complain on blogs. Therefore, I am determined not to complain. I really enjoy Keepin Up With the Fitz's and I haven't seen any complaints there. I'm sure I would enjoy Heidi's blog if I could find it.
I would like to become a fan of Meadowbrook Golf Course on facebook but I can't figure out how to do it. I do get a little frustrated sometimes.
It is time for me to get stitching on that blanket though.
I have a massage tomorrow, looking forward to that.
I bowled two games of 200 each on the Wii. I really should be doing the Wii Fit but I'm pretty comfortable in this chair. Ta!

Got the Flight

Finally booked our flight for Sean's wedding over the last two nights. I booked once then checked the next night and it was $88 cheaper so I rebooked at the lower fare. Gotta love Southwest. On the web only fares you can cancel within 24 hours with no charges. And they are the only airline that doesn't charge for bags. That is especially important when you are taking golf clubs.

On another note, I could not figure out how to add a photo to a previous post so will try it now. If you remember about Beach Day last week and the get up that one of the kids had on, that's what I'm going to attempt to post.

Still trying to finish the blanket so will try the photo and then get busy. Ta

Oscars

Who is Jeremy Renner and why is his mom his date? I don't think I've ever seen an actor take Mom as a date to the Oscars.

I finally went back to Weight Watchers yesterday. I hope it helps because I surely do need help. I think it is because I've lost 4.4 lbs. since Friday according to the Wii Fit.

Ali and I went shopping for her birthday today; her birthday is tomorrow. My baby will be 26 in less than 24 hours. She is twice as old as she was when her Grandpa Moore died the day before her birthday. Another Happy Birthday today for sis Kathy. Won't say how old she is today. You can only give the ages of people younger than you because it isn't polite to tell on your elders! I called her to wish her a Happy Birthday but of course she wasn't home. It is difficult catching the sibs who live 3 time zones away.

Hope everyone has a great week. Ta!

More Tech Problems

I put my sim card into my new phone tonight thinking that all my old pics were on there, WRONG. Nothing there. So now I want to know where all the pictures on my old phone went.

Today was beach day. I was lame, lame, LAME. I had a new warm-up that is yellow that I wore with my Special Shoes. I was going to do flip flops but just couldn't do it. Everyone that did said their feet were freezing all day.

I do have to tell about one kid who really got into it. He had on a bright red swim cap, goggles, snorkel, and fins, over his bike shorts(spandex)he had on some tiny girls speedo racing suit, then his own speedos, then some butt floss! It was hysterical. I had to take a picture. I may ask him if its ok to post.

I need to get back at those blankets.

Dogs Licking

Does anyone know how to stop them? Mine lick everything and anything all the time!!! Enough to drive me nuts, and we all know what a short trip that is.

Just kept up with the Fitz's, sounds like they had a great weekend. I really need to get done with both blankets.

I was checking flights for Sean's wedding but still didn't book anything. While he was here last weekend we had a mini-fashion show so he could see the options for me to wear to the big event. His first choice was the fabric that I have cut out for a dress. Second choice was a dress that I bought at Von Maur. I'm ok with either because I can wear either without having to don the body armour(Spanx). Not that I wouldn't for such an occassion but I just think in the Florida mid-summer heat I might be more comfy without it.

I need to find something to wear for beach day at school tomorrow so... Ta.

Back to Same Old Stuff

I went to bed early last night because I didn't really feel all that great and I was really tired. Tonight, its back to the regular schedule of TV. For tonight it is NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles and The Good Wife. Feels like forever since I've watched a new episode of any of them. I also have a few different episodes of various shows that I DVR'd while Olympics were on that I will have to watch at some point.

Does anyone else remember back in the stone age when you just had to wait for a re-run when you missed a favorite show? I'm not really sure when we watched them since we played outside every night all summer until 10 at night. But then, there were no mini-series thrown into the middle of the regular seasons. There weren't any short seasons of different shows thrown into the middle of the season either.

I bowled on the Wii today, I think I will have a sore butt tomorrow.
Spirit day tomorrow, get to wear the Tiger-wear and jeans. Thursday is beach day and I don't gave a clue what to wear for that. Then another school t-shirt day on Friday, what an awesome week. Gotta go.
