USA Hockey Gold or Silver

As I sit in front of the tube with my family, we are all(except Ali)are awaiting the overtime to decide the fate of Olympic hockey teams. Do you believe in Miracles? It would be so cool but I will cry like a baby. If we have to lose, I would rather lose to Canada than the Russians. I guess you can tell I'm a child of the Cold War. I still think of the Russians as the Commies. The Chinese are taking the place of the Russians that way.

Time for me to go. I have to watch hockey. Go USA.

Winding Down the Olympics

Just watching the bobsledders and saw ad for closing ceremonies. Avril Lavigne is going to screech. You heard me, the woman can not sing. If it weren't for her lyrics she would be in the forest with the screech owls. That voice is like nails on a chalk board for me.

Have you noticed the cameras on rails alongside the finish lines of many Olympic events? So cool. Technology is so amazing. I think I would like to ride in one of those bobsleds...once. I might pee my pants but that has to be a rush. I think Depends might be in order for that one.

Can't wait for hockey tomorrow, hope we can beat them again but not holding my breath. Will be so awesome if we do. Go USA!!!

We had a nice dinner with the kids tonight. I can't remember the last time we sat down to a meal with just the four of us. The steaks were excellent. Way to go Dad, didn't cinderfy them. Don't know if that is a word but if not I just made it up.

It will be interesting to see how many athletes show up for closing ceremonies. Although I won't know because I will be watching Desperate Housewives and Brothers & Sisters. I am ready for the tv seasons to move on now. Time for some speedskating. Later. mkm

Spring Break is coming

It dawned on me the other day that the calendar was about to flip another page to March. Glorious March. The month that after we struggle through what seems like an eternity of it, we are rewarded with a week off from school. Granted we had several snow days this month but so what? What can you do trapped in the house? If you are pathetic like me, you can sit in a chair in front of the tube and work on a cross stitch baby blanket for hours on end.

I am happy to announce that the kitty is done on the blanket. All that is left now is the rest of the quilt and dust ruffle, the border, and put it together. Yeah!!!!
I have been waiting to put Baby Fitz's together until I get this one done so I only have to drag out the sewing machine once. I have until early May, I think I'll make it.

No exciting plans for spring break but it will be good to be off. I just hope the weather might be nice enough to play golf outside with real balls and clubs. TGIF Ta

Pro Athletes...are they worth it?

Derek Jeter wants to stay with the Yankees but they won't sign a new contract yet. Who cares? I'm sure a a large portion of the male free world. Isn't it sad that the athletes can command so much money when there are so many ways that money could be better spent? Like how about a raise for Paraprofessionals that work in Special Education? Or how about helping people adopt children that would like to but can't afford all the fees?

Do they really need all that money? Just how much do jocks cost these days? I haven't had to purchase one in quite some time. I don't remember ever buying one for my son, maybe when he was in 4th or 5th grade. I think my husband quit wearing them when the spandex stuff came out. Even those are only about 20 bucks a pair aren't they? I can't do that math in my head but I think one million would buy at least one in every color ever made and then some. So how much money do they really need? Have a great Thursday.

Blog Naming Error

I wasn't really thinking clearly when I gave this thing a name. If I had been I would have come up with Still Sitting in the Same Chair Every Night. I never really go anywhere, unless you count work and Wal-Mart.
I am going to Florida in June. Sean and Meg are getting married on the 26th. I was just checking airfares. Is it just me or is that whole travel thing on line just a major frustration? Life was so much easier when you just called the travel agent and paid whatever you were told to pay. Does anyone still do that anymore?

Some chick just bit it big time in Ski Cross. That looks like a wicked sport. Crazy.
On another Olympic note... I am happy to announce that none of the US women bobsledders look anywhere nearly as bad as the guy with the big belly (and the pb south of there) in their spandex suits. I'm so glad of that because that guy looked really bad.

Hope everyone has a great Wednesday, remember, its hump day! Only half the week left after lunch! Later.mkm

Oh Canada

Almost forgot, Ali sang her version of Oh Canada for me while she was here today. Score team USA 4-2! Sorry for the interruption, back to the song. Here is her version from her childhood.

Oh Canada you take away the sins of the world. Somehow she got church and national anthems a little confused! What a hoot!

Just had to add that before I forgot about it. It was too good to keep to myself. Until tomorrow.

Ugly in Spandex...not just women anymore.

I couldn't let this one go by without commenting. I always thought that we women were the only ones who had to be concerned about how our bodies look in tight clothing, not true. Last night while watching the bobsledders I saw a male poured into that spandex suit that really shouldn't have been allowed out of the house much less on tv shown around the world. It was truly ugly. I don't know what looked worse...the breat big belly stuffed into the suit or the pb tucked south of there. Maybe they should invent some male version of Spanx for the male bobsledders.

We enjoyed a nice dinner with Ali and Eric this evening. I actually cooked a roast, potatoes, green beans and SIAS(salad in a sack). Eric has taken my massage boots to try and fix them(God Bless him), I hope he is successful as I really miss them.

Two seconds of ice dancing was enough to send me back to hockey. USA is up 3-2 over the Canadians, hope they can holod on for a win. Awesome helmut on the goalie! Go USA!

I missed posting last night because we went to the basketball game at school. The Tigers won ugly. Hope they play better on Monday for the conference title.
Back to the Olympics... so glad the Russian didn't win just because he can do a quad! I NEVER thought I would say this but God Bless Dick Button! He agreed with my thought that jumps are only part of it. Congrats to the American! Go USA!

I am having a very lazy Saturday. Didn't get out of bed until 11, had a bite of breakfast and then worked out on the Wii Fit for about an hour. I managed to get up to professional on the slalom ski course. AND...I finished the Island Cycling course. I still haven't figured out how to do that without backtracking and getting lost.

Almost five o'clock and don't know what to do about dinner. I'm getting kind of hungry so I guess I should get on it. Looks like it will be yet another exciting evening in front of the tube watching sporting events. Enjoy your Saturday night.

Men's Figure Skating

Okay, the men's competition is not my favorite. I like the ladies the best, then the pairs, men are last. During the short program the other night I was surprised to see a Swiss skater. I guess I am just used to the Swiss being bobsledders and skiers, but figure skaters? The next thing you know they'll be making Gobstoppers instead of chocolate!
I really hope the American kid can kick out the Russian. The Russian just looked like a train waiting to crash. All over the place except for his jumps. I do have to give the Swiss guy credit, he had amazing foot work.

Just needed to get that out before the finals tonight. Go USA!

Help I am Techno-Challenged

I have finally got through the set-up but couldn't put a picture on because I can't figure out how to get pictures from my phone to my laptop. I know I've done it before but can't remember. This may be complicated by the fact that I am also watching the Olympics. How about that Linday Vonn? Gets a gold, way to go. Some awesome agony of defeat footage. Fortunately no serious injuries. I haven't skied in a long time but I still can't imagine in my wildest dreams flying down an ice-packed slope at 80-90 mph. No good reason for me do that...or jump out of a perfectly good airplane. I think I can safely say you will never see me do either of those. Getting late and dogs are anxious to go out and go to bed, me too. Just the bed part, I still pee indoors. Go USA!
